To anyone who nominated, was nominated, voted:
It was brought to my attention earlier this evening that something seemed wrong with our voting process. Not necessarily the voting process, but the poll that was used. As you may or may not know, in the Winter '08 session, we allowed multiple nominating and voting. This time around, Mys Heather and myself decided to go with a SINGLE vote per person. Little did we know that by closing your browser window, you would be able to reset your IP and vote again. This was not our intention during this round of awards.

We did not want these awards to turn into a popularity contest. We wanted the fics nominated to be voted on because people loved them, not because they were friends of the author. If we wanted to do it that way, we would have just told you all to submit your fics to any number of other award sites around the 'net.

Unfortunately I was not here for the majority of this, otherwise I would have caught on to it sooner. RL has kicked me in the ass, sure enough, and Heather has done the best she could under the circumstances. But we are regretfully announcing that this award site, and the awards along with it, are no longer going to be available. We're closing everything down. The Spring '08 session is hereby canceled due to unfair voting.

The sad thing about this is...I have checked IPs and votes, and what amazes me is that without the double/triple/multiple voting, most of the fics WOULD HAVE WON ANYWAY. We may try to develop a better way of voting, of nominating, but at this point, I figure why should I? I have already asked repeatedly for people not to nominate me or my fics for awards on MY site, yet they do anyway. I'm completely flattered that some think I deserve that, but I bow out because I want it to be fair. And in fairness...since I run the site, doesn't it stand to reason that MY friends are going to be majority voters? I have tried to steer away, going so far as to disqualify myself...on several occasions. I would rather have no award at all, and just general praise, than have so-called friends of mine vote for me multiple times just to make sure I win.

To all who were nominated, and all who voted...and especially those who voted fairly...I thank you. It was fun, for ME anyway, to get to read all the fics I missed the first time through this site, and to see what vivid imaginations are out there in internetland. WC/UFF Awards are now officially CLOSED.--UTsSQ
